Photography 101

One of my New Year's resolutions is to learn how to use my fancy camera. I'm taking a photography class at the University of Maryland and loving it. Here are my favorites from my first homework assignment.

And my most favorite of them all:

Those are awesome! I love your camera. I've wanted to get one like that, but we don't have that money yet, hopefully soon. Photography classes would be awesome, and you are doing so great!

Nice work, Wendy! I'm noticing a difference in your photos already -- nice work to take a class! And re: iron chef -- your friends are way more organized than mine! what a cool party!

Wendy, those are gorgeous! I'm loving the black and white. I've never known anyone more on top of capturing the moment with her camera. Way to develop a natural talent with a class!

My faves are the second and third... National Geographic meets Bladensburg's middle class meets literacy promotion. Don't you love photography? Let's meet in the middle, geographically, and take an intermediate class together; although your camera kicks my camera's butt.

Look at you Mrs. Photog! I'm so bummed i couldn't join the class with you. I'm searching for a class around here that works with our schedule, but in the meantime start sharing your photography words of wisdom would ya?!

I.am.jealous. If we (in a fantasy world) lived in the same town, I would take that class with you! Then we could do photo sessions with our kids together, mommy could keep the kid happy, while friend snaps photos.

That would be awesome.

I want to know, if you figure this out: how much of it has to do with a good camera, how much of it has to do with good lighting, and how much of it has to do with being a good photographer?

Could someone like me buy a fancy camera, read the owners manual, and take great photos? Or is it a lot more than that? because i'm not going to invest in a fancy camera until I figure this out.

You are awesome.

I'm so glad that you have such a cute subject to use your mega-awesome-I'm-so-jealous-of camera. Adorable!
